馬太鞍溪堰塞湖潰決，重創花蓮光復鄉以及多個阿美族部落，甚至有兩名原視新聞記者家園也被波及。但大家仍駐守崗位報導，希望將部落的需求及聲音被看見。這次獲得WIBN新聞獎肯定，原視新聞也將持續透過新聞報導，傳遞部落族人的聲音。
原視每日新聞製作人 Umas Suqluman：「儘管當時新聞採訪人力相當有限，我們仍持續派遣記者長期駐守災區，進行深入的追蹤報導，並從原住民族的觀點出發，關注災後重建以及部落真正的需求。我們報導了族人如何運用傳統組織，進行災害救援與物資分配，也記錄部落如何凝聚力量，共同向政府提出訴求，爭取應有的權益。目前災後重建工作仍在持續，我們也會繼續透過新聞報導，讓更多人聽見部落的聲音，並持續為族人的訴求發聲。
Despite a shortage of reporting personnel, we continued to station reporters in the area for long-term, in-depth reporting, and explored post-disaster reconstruction and needs from the perspective of the indigenous peoples. We reported on how the tribespeople used traditional organizations for disaster relief and resource distribution, and how they demonstrated unity in making demands of the government. Reconstruction efforts are still ongoing, and we will continue to report and amplify the voices of the tribespeople.」
